I wish first of all to thank Prof. Michele Nocera who, besides running the feature In search of voices for a couple of years and flanking me at the presentation evening as Maria Callas's biographer, has written a book on this extraordinary artist who passed away on 16th September 1977 in Paris, linking her interpretations to the Verdi repertoire on last year's centenery of his death.
Michele Nocera has written numerous books on opera and dance. He has organised several exhibitions and taken part in RAI programmes on Maria Callas, Giuseppe di Stefano, Lina Aimaro, Tancredi Masero, Carla Fracci and Katia Ricciarelli's personal biographer. My thanks also go to Prof. Fausta Samaritani, an expert on literature and history and an active member of the Rome-based Ippolito Nievo Foundation, who for several years now has been sending me from the foundation's archives articles on the history and events affecting Lake Garda and Desenzano in particular. Some of the news is unpublished and covers topics that few of the inhabitants know about.

Gentili lettori voglio iniziare questo redazionale ringraziando il professor Michele Nocera che, oltre a seguire da un paio di anni la rubrica "Alla ricerca di voci" e ad affiancarmi la sera della presentazione, come biografo di Maria Callas ha presentato un volume su questa straordinaria artista spentasi a Parigi il 16 settembre 1977. Il celebre soprano interpretò, durante la sua carriera, svariate volte personaggi verdiani, lasciando una traccia indelebile anche in questo repertorio.
Nel centenario della morte del "Cigno di Busseto", l'autore di questo volume, Michele Nocera, ha voluto ripercorrere l'itinerario verdiano del soprano greco attraverso lettere, documenti, recensioni e spartiti. Dal canto suo, Giancarlo Landini ha analizzato la ricca discografia callassiana riguardante il sommo musicista. Il volume, inoltre, contiene numerose immagini inedite ed una prefazione di Giorgio Gualerzi.
Michele Nocera è autore di numerose pubblicazioni nei settori della lirica e della danza. Ha curato mostre, con autorevoli interventi RAI, per Maria Callas, Giuseppe Di Stefano, Lina Aimaro, Tancredi Masero, Carla Fracci, Ettore Bastianini, Katia Ricciarelli. E' annoverato tra i biografi internazionali di Maria Callas ed è biografo personale di Katia Ricciarelli.
Questo volume fa parte di una trilogia comprendente "Omaggio a Maria Callas" (1989) e "Sirmione a Maria Callas" (1997).
Un ringraziamento altrettanto particolare alla professoressa Fausta Samaritani, studiosa di letteratura e di storia e socia attiva della "Fondazione Ippolito Nievo" cha ha sede a Roma da dove, da qualche anno, pescando negli archivi della Fondazione stessa, mi spedisce articoli sulla storia e su avvenimenti che hanno come sfondo il lago di Garda ed in particolare Desenzano. Notizie talvolta inedite e che toccano argomenti poco conosciuti agli stessi abitanti di questi luoghi. Da poco più di un anno è curatrice di tre siti internet di letteratura italiana:

Liebe Leser, ich möchte dieses Vorwort beginnen mit meinem Dankeschön an die Geschichtsgelehrte und Literaturwissenschaftlerin Herrn Prof. Michele Nocera, der sich seit ein paar Jahren nicht nur der Rubrik "Auf der Suche nach Stimmen" annimmt und mir am Vorstellungsabend der neuen Ausgabe zur Seite steht. Er hat vielmehr als Biograph Maria Callas auch einen Band über das Leben der am 16. September 1977 in Paris verstorbenen aussgewöhnlichen Küunstlerin veröffentlich und dabei ihr Repertoire an Verdi-Opern, deren Todestag sich dieses Jahr zum 100. Mal jährt, in Verbindung gebracht. Michele Nocera ist der Autor von zahlreichen Veröffentlichungen auf dem Gebiet der Opernmusik und des Tanzes. Er hat zahlreiche Ausstellungen zu Maria Callas, Giuseppe di Stefano, Lina Aimaro, Tancredi Masero, Carla Fracci und Katia Ricciarelli, betreut und vielbeachtete Ausführungen zu deren Leben und Wirken im Staatlichen Fernsehen RAI gemacht. Er zählt auf internationalem Niveau zu den Biographen von Maria Callas und ist des weiteren der persönliche Biograph von Katia Ricciarelli. Besonderer Dank gilt des witeren Frau Prof. Fausta Samaritani, aktives Mitglied der "Stiftung Ippolito Nievo" mit Sitz im Rom, von deren Archiven aus sie mir seit ein paar Jahren Artikel über die Geschichte und zu Ereignissen am Gardasee und insbesondere zu Desenzano schickt. Mitunter handelt es sich um bisher unveröffentlichte bzw. sogar den Gardaseeanwohnern so gut wie unbekannte Tatsachen.
